Overview
CalThings (hereinafter referred to as "the App") deeply values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information.
Data Collection
- CalThings does not collect any personal data
- All accounting and note data is stored only on your device
- We do not access or upload your financial information
- The app works normally without an internet connection
Data Storage
- All data is stored locally using iOS built-in Core Data
- When the app is deleted, all data will be removed
- CSV export features let you fully control your own data
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, which may collect anonymous usage data:
- Firebase Analytics — Collects anonymous usage statistics (e.g., feature usage frequency), not linked to personal identity
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — Used to send push notifications, only uses the device's push token
- Firebase Remote Config — Used to remotely adjust app settings, does not collect personal data
- Firebase Cloud Storage / Firestore — Used only when you voluntarily submit a "Scan Failure Feedback" report; see the next section for details
- Apple StoreKit — In-app subscriptions are handled by Apple; this app does not access your payment information
- No third-party advertising services are used
Scan Failure Feedback
When you scan a receipt, an e-invoice QR code, or a product expiry date and the result is incorrect or fails, you may voluntarily report the issue through the in-app "Report Recognition Issue" flow to help us improve recognition accuracy. Participation is entirely optional; a disclosure explaining what is collected is shown the first time you submit, and you can choose whether to include the photo or the parser log.
- What is collected — the original photo you captured (optional), a parser log (raw OCR text + parsing steps, optional), metadata such as device model and OS version, and a random anonymous identifier generated by the App (not tied to your Apple ID or device serial number)
- Purpose — diagnose and improve our recognition engine; used solely for product development and quality debugging
- Where it is stored — photos and parser logs are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage; metadata is stored in Firebase Firestore. Servers are located in the Asia region (Taiwan / Tokyo)
- Retention — photos and parser logs are automatically deleted after 30 days; metadata is automatically purged after 1 year
- Access — only the CalThings development team can access this data, strictly for debugging and quality improvement; it is never shared with or sold to any third party
- Withdrawal — you can clear your consent state and anonymous identifier at any time via "Settings → Feedback → Scan Feedback Settings → Reset Feedback Preferences." The disclosure will be shown again on your next report
Permission Usage
The App may request the following permissions. All permissions are optional; denying access does not affect basic accounting and note features:
- Notifications — Used for accounting reminders and push notifications
- Camera — Used to take photos of receipts to attach to bills
- Photo Library — Used to select photos from your album to attach to bills
- Calendar — Used to display today's events in the notes list
- Reminders — Used to display to-do items in the notes list
In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
The App offers subscription services through Apple's StoreKit. All payment information is handled by Apple; the App does not access your payment information.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not intentionally collect personal information from children.

This Privacy Policy may be revised as required by law or with feature updates. Significant changes will be notified in advance within the app.
